Revision: Article First Page

Image
This is my new article. I changed pretty much everything in it because my draft was not professional. After I got my new pictures I distributed them to the specific places, and I thought the picture of Terrell Pack would fit nicely. I was very pleased with my new article. I did not change the content in the article, but we all added a watermark to the top corner of the page, just to make things look crisper. In addition, I also changed where the picture was because in my draft, I thought the picture was too drug out to each corner and it did not look professional. I made the font smaller for the heading as well. I also forgot to add my name in my draft, so I added it on my final. It took me a long time to figure out the spacing and making sure words did not get cut off my article. I also wanted the pull-out quote that I used to be big enough so that it stood out from the rest of the article. I justified my text as well, but one thing that frustrates me is how some words are more spaced...

Traditional Distribution

Magazine distribution is a great way to bring in revenue, and there is a multitude of ways to do so. There is usually three steps to Traditionally, you pay a distribution company to distribute your magazine, and they will travel to the places you choose to distribute them, and put them on the shelves. Most companies attempt to get the magazine on shelves within 24 hours. That is what they call direct distribution. For our magazine, we could distribute them to high schools, and attend sporting events for those schools to sell our magazines. We would also sell them in grocery stores and book stores. For our magazine, we are going to charge for ads, as well as for the magazine itself. However, for the magazine itself, we will make it cheap so that people want to buy it, and so that it is not too expensive. We would use South Florida Premium Distribution, because it would be cheap, and it promises to get our magazines onto shelves within 24 hours.

Target Audience Research #3

Image
In the ESPN magazine, the cover features Angel's star, Mike Trout. The audience the magazine is most likely trying to target is baseball fans, as well as Angel fans. The age does not matter, because if you are a fan of MLB baseball, you would know who Mike Trout is. However, the range would most likely be limited to the United States because it is for the MLB, and it is a magazine made in the United States. This would also most likely appeal to men, because men are more likely to watch baseball. Our magazines are similar because we both have a certain amount of people we can appeal to, because we are doing South Florida high schools, someone from Maine would not want that. They market their products through all possible platforms. We will use print and social media to appeal to our audience.

Target Audience Research #2

Image
On the cover features David Beckham, a soccer star. The article titles discuss getting in shape and being really fit. The target audience would be men, of any age probably 18-54, because of the desire to get in shape. This can appeal to all countries everywhere, and the goal is to promote and sell the products that are sold in the magazine. It would most likely catch the eye of a soccer fan because of Beckham being on the cover. They most likely marketed their products in grocery stores and book stores. They used the attractive David Beckham to appeal to the people who see it. They used print, as well as social media to broadcast their magazine. We will also do the same thing they do.

Target Audience Research #1

The target audience for Sports Illustrated is a wide audience in this edition. Because the Superbowl is such a big deal, it can be targeted towards all fans of football of any age or gender, because women watch the Superbowl much more than a regular season game. However, the United States is most likely the biggest target because it is for the NFL. Our target audience is similar because we want to appeal to both men and women, of all ages. They most likely marketed their product in grocery stores, book stores, and any possible place with sports. The persuasive techniques used would be Tom Brady in the corner so even patriots fans would have interest in buying the product. This was printed. We would use all possible forms of media, especially social media because it is so popular nowadays.

Superbowl Ad

The first product is the NFL. The techniques the commercial used humor to appeal to peoples emotions, as well as old popular music from the 80s to appeal to the older generation. The old music from Dirty Dancing is most likely used to appeal to women, as well as people in there high 30s because of that movie, and also the younger generation because of Odell. Another commercial was for the Winter Olympics. They use emotions, and an empowering women to appeal to viewers. The target can really be anyone because it can empower people to chase their dreams. The last commercial we watched was for Australia. It used humor and old references to Crocodile Dundee, which would appeal to an older generation, most likely people in their 40s.

Cover Photo Update

Image
I changed a lot in my cover photo, from the pictures, to the borders, colors, and even what program I used for it. I am very proud of the way my cover has come together. I knew I wanted to change the picture, because there was so much white space. When I got my knew picture, I liked how it did not say Sailors on the back because we changed the name of our magazine to Soflo Sports, to broaden our audience from just Sarasota. I played around in Photoshop instead of in-design because Photoshop makes the pictures more crisp. I also changed around the color of the words to best fit the background. The last part that I added was the border, which I think compliments the orange very well. With my new photo, it is very crisp and when I took it I knew I wanted that to be on the cover. In Photoshop I  blurred out the things around the player, as well as sharpened the athlete himself, so that he would "pop," I liked how the Sarasota Sailors logo was not on the back so that other stu...
